About Me

michael delohery
Michael Delohery was born in 1974. He grew up in Clare but has been living and working in Limerick, for the past 14 years. His observations of human emotions, and the social and psychological problems that each of us can experience from day to day is the focus of his work. His college work was very graphic in nature and technique. The focus of his work was based human tragedies. The idea of “Power” through images intrigued him. The images in some of his college paintings were gruesome and violent and had an unsettling edge to them. He then made the decision to work in a more subtle way, investigating some of the more unnoticed tragedies. The talents we don’t use, the life half-lived the sins we cannot forgive of ourselves or of others, these became the driving nature behind his work. After Art College he began painting in a studio in Clare. He returned to Limerick and began teaching at such schools as CBS Sexton St. and Coláiste Chiaráin Croom. Michael joined Contact Studios in 2007 and intends to continue to work there for the foreseeable future.
